DALLAS WILL CONTINUE TO HOST A BOWL GAME IN COTTON BOWL STADIUM!

Thank you for joining us on our website!  Hopefully you are as excited as we are about re-introducing post-season college football to Cotton Bowl Stadium, which has conducted more bowl games than any other football facility in history, other than famed Rose Bowl Stadium.

As you are probably aware, Cotton Bowl Stadium has undergone a major renovation over the past couple of years, complete with all new seats, concession stands, restroom facilities, and one of the top video screens in the nation.  It is truly one of the premier football arenas in the nation.

In addition, the surrounding Fair Park area is planning some exciting new developments to complement its already existing theaters, museums, and such eye-catching entities as the new butterfly conservatory and the established aquarium.  One of the items on the drawing board is a year-round theme park complete with thrill rides.  And speaking of rides, the new mass transit light rail system will bring you to the front door of Cotton Bowl Stadium from virtually anywhere in the Metroplex, thus greatly reducing traffic congestion if you decide to drive instead.

We are extremely pleased that we were able to secure a New Year’s Day date, highly coveted in the bowl industry and a rarity for a first-year bowl.  The New Year’s Day playing date is considered very prestigious among college football coaches and players.

There’s no question that we are the “new kid” on the block when it comes to bowls.  Like any new business, we will have to earn our stripes before we are allowed to move up in the selection process pecking order.  No, we are not a BCS (Bowl Championship Series) game, but we do have agreements with three prominent conferences:  The Big Ten, and Big 12, and Conference USA.

The participation of each individual conference will depend on the number of qualifiers it has for bowl eligibility per NCAA rules.  In some years, if there are not enough qualifiers in one or two of those leagues, the Dallas Football Classic may have to go “at-large,” meaning that it will find a replacement from another conference that has an available team.  All I can promise you is that we will have two good football teams from the NCAA Bowl Sub-Division (formerly Division 1A)…. and the most fun time you’ll ever have going to a football game!!
